Easy Gourmet Hamburger Sauces


Add some flair to your next backyard barbecue with these simple add ins to your ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. Also find out how to make other quick and easy condiments using ordinary ingredients to give your hamburgers a gourmet taste with out a lot of work.

GOURMET MAYONNAISE
Favored mayo blends are ridiculously easy  to make. Try adding the following ingredient combos to a base of your favorite mayo.

French:  lemon juice, minced garlic, and parsley.
Mexican: minced cilantro, garlic and parsley.
German:  horseradish, spicy mustard and caraway seeds
Indian: curry powder and minced shallots
Southwest:  pureed chipotle chilies and fresh lime juice

Lemon Butter Mayo

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons fesh lemon juice

Spicy Ketchup

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1-2 tablespoons of hot sauce to taste
Kick it up a notch for some added flavor.

Chipotle Mayo

1 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons minced canned chipotle
2 teaspoons of sauce from chipotle can
This is all the rage in the restaurants. Who knew it was this easy to make. You should be able to find the chipotle chilies in the Mexican section of your supermarket.

Green Chili Mayonnaise

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 chili
  • 2 tablespoons chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt and pepper

Cajun Mayo

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun spice blend or 1 teaspoon red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Tex-Mex Mayo

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons taco seasoning mix

Herb Mayo

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Horseradish Mayo

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, to taste

Garlic Mayo

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano

Honey Mustard

1 cup of mustard
1-2 tablespoons of honey to taste

Dijon Balsamic Mustard

  • 1 cup of mustard
  • 1-2 tablespoons of balsamic and oil salad dressing

Spicy Mustard

  • 1 cup of mustard
  • 1-2 tablespoons of prepared horseradish

Whiskey BBQ Sauce

  • 3 cups of your favorite bottled BBQ sauce
  • 1 little nip bottle of bourbon from the liquor store

Heat in the microwave to incorporate flavors. The restaurants are charging big buck for this stuff and it is so easy to make.

Garlic Butter

1/2 stick of butter
minced garlic to taste
Melt butter in the microwave for a few seconds until soft but not runny. Add in garlic, put on cut sides and toast on the grill for a nice gourmet flavor.

Fresh Salsa

  • 3 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 red onion chopped
  • 1 jalapeno chilie seeded and minced
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 3 tablespoons chopped cilantro leaves
  • Salt and pepper

Guacamole

  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, finely cubed
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons lime juice or juice of 1 fresh lime
  • salt and pepper to taste

Spicy Sour Cream

  • 1 8 oz container of sour cream
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning mix

SUN DRIED TOMATO AIOLI
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes packed in olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon oil from the sun dried tomatoes
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed


Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.


Great on taco burgers.

Queso

Melt small chunks of velveta cheese in the microwave with some salsa.

Southwest Ranch

Add taco seasoning mix to bottled ranch dressing.

Nacho Cheese Sauce

Melts mall chunks of Velveta cheese in the microwave.

A1 steak sauce, Worchester sauce, pizza sauce, Russian and thousand island salad dressing. Try making your burgers ahead of time and letting them sit in a teriyaki, lemon pepper, chipotle citrus or Caribbean jerk marinade for 30 minutes before grilling.
